By March 28, 2020June 9th, 2020No Comments

Canada announced yesterday that it has had to delay the opening of its Parent/Grandparent Sponsorship Program due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

IRCC has stated that the temporary deferral of the program will not impact when sponsored parents/grandparents will be arriving in Canada, and has assured applicants that already-submitted applications continue to be processed.

About the Parent/Grandparent Sponsorship Program

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can apply to sponsor their parents or grandparents to Canada. The two-application process that involves you applying to become a sponsor and your parent(s) or grandparent(s) applying to become a Canadian PR.

The process begins with an sponsorship interest form where you express your interest to sponsor your family member(s). There are a limited amount of invitations extended each year. If you receive an Invitation to Apply, you then have 60 days to submit your completed application package. As always, ensure that you are eligible to apply beforehand.

IRCC will post details of the opening of this program online and on social media.

If you would like to be personally contacted by Ashamalla LLP when details are released, email your request to info@ashamalla.ca.
